"I sent them you: my only son."

Besides Narnia, there is another, slightly less lifelong obsession for me that's soon to be on the silver screen. Through my extensive Hollywood connections, I've arranged for film versions of both of these stories. We all know about Narnia; introducing the next...

The Greeks had Odysseus. The Romans had Aeneas. The Britons had King Arthur. We have Superman.

Very cool. They are really bringing out the messianic theme in the teaser.

Our culture does not so embrace the idea of a life mission created by the father for the son. It has a classic ring to it. But, we are a nation of rebels and pioneers; each generation seeking to go where the previous generation has never gone before. (Like the homage?)

My father and my materal grandparents all left home as young adults and never returned home to live - only visit. I grew up assuming I would do the same.

Not everyone lives with that notion. Some families work very hard to keep members close by. I take a wait and see posture toward my sons' directions. Their lives are theirs to lead. Though I am happy to offer advice and treasure time spent with them.

I must confess to acively seeking to inculcate some elements of life mission into my sons: to trust and obey the Lord, to live uprightly in the world regardless of cost, to love others despite differences, to work hard at discovering and doing the work God has designed us to to do, and to enjoy the adventure along the way. This mission I do pray they - and I - fulfill.

I should also mention that the voice in the trailer is that of Marlon Brando.
